EP's Update

It's so much fun to be able to stay connected to all the great families,
travelers, "court addicts", etc.

Uncle Ernie had a fun birthday - hey at 69, anythings fun !
On Saturday, all 17 of us ( kids, grandkids, and us) were together for a
Bar-B-Que at our place. It was just SUPER! In fact the younger ones were
so good it was fantastic! I mentioned to our kids how neat it was and
Steve suggested that we have Christmas in July - Hey, I think he has
something there! ! !

Well, Uncle Ernie and I now have a new Dell Computer and we are ready to
start receiving email. Can you believe that ??
I know, we really don't rush into things ! !

Our email addresses are:
epscheuberart@sbcglobal.net
mjscheubertravels@sbcglobal.net

Got a call from Uncle Bill this morning - you'll have to ask him about "Rent
a Wreck"?? He'll fill you in.

I am working full time for about 2 1/2 weeks now as Fatima is in the
Azores - you know those beautiful islands out in the middle of the Atlantic,
and we're holding down the fort. We leave on Aug 6, for 5 days, in our new
"travel digs", for Felton with Bernie and Mary Ann Milloux. We spent 4 days
up at Calaveras Big Trees in June and had a great time.

We're looking forward to receiving the Scheuber Update at home, so that
Uncle Ernie can read everything first hand! !

Take Care - Mary Jane

Hello,

We are glad Lori and family enjoyed their vacation in Wyoming.    We feel very fortunate that we are able to live and raise our family here.  If you are ever in the area, you are always welcome in our home. We do have one question for Lori.  How did they make the trails and canyons grizzly free?

Our summer is going fast.  We have been attending Concerts in the park, Teal is learning to bike ride,  watched Annie at the WYO theater, Shakespeare in the park,  and morning walks on Sheridan bike paths.  Teal attended her first YMCA Adventure camp and loved it.  She will go on another in August.  Garrett took his first swim lessons in June, and is crawling everywhere.  I attended a luncheon at the oldest dude/guest ranch in the united states, Eaton's Ranch, yesterday.  What a place.  It is neat that the oldest guest ranch in the US is here.  They will be celebrating there 100th year anniversary this fall.  What a place!!!  The food was good too.

Teal has been practicing on her goat preparing for this weekends rodeo.  Jared and her have it down to 10 second runs.  We will see what happens Friday night at the big show.  Bryan will be participating in the Bronc riding and our friends will be roping.  It will be a great family night.  Garrett and I will cheer from the side lines.  He gets so wound up screaming and jumping when he sees the horses. We are planning our yearly camping trip in the Bighorn mountains next week.  I sure would like to know how to make it bear free before we go.  Bryan is taking Teal to the Ducks Unlimited Greenwing festival this weekend.

Jeff if you could send me your email.  I can't seem to find what I did with it. I will send you a few pictures of the family.

Hope all is well.  We have enjoyed this website!! It is great to hear the happenings of the family.

God Bless!  Tammy

Lake Trip

Hello all-

Glad to see everyone's summer is going well.

Mike and I (with the help of my retired, "I'm running out of projects to do in my own house," Dad, finally finished painting the majority of the inside of our house.  It was going to cost a bundle for the builder to paint so we decided to do it ourselves, however there were times when I could hear Mike say he'd wished he'd paid the money!!  In the long run, it was fun to be working on our own house.

Two days after finishing, we packed up (what seemed like everything) and went camping/boating with friends. We had a blast.  Mike jet skied and I water skied (my favorite sport).  I had my first skiing accident in all the years I have been skiing.  The driver of the boat for some reason slowed way down and I was falling backwards due to the extra slack in the rope.  I was afraid of falling backwards and hitting my head on my skies.  Stupidly, I remained holding onto the rope and then it got caught between my legs as I was being dragged in the water.  I now have a beautiful rope burn slice and huge bruises between both legs!!  Good times!!  I was determined to forget about the pain and ski again and I did.  The next day I was not a happy camper, no pun intended.

We are planning another small trip soon, maybe Las Vegas.  We have three weddings to go to in San Jose over the next couple of weeks and I will be setting up my new classroom next week.

This summer has flown!!!!

Love,
Ashlee and Mike

Peterson Case

Auntie Marge....you bet I watched the cheezy special on USA about Scott Peterson! Haven't got into the Court TV, but won't miss a Peterson update.  We were at a Dodger game today as you can see below. Mike, don't get all excited, I still hate them...the tickets were free! It was only 98 degrees there...kinda reminded me of Modesto. Keep me posted on any inside info regarding the above, and I'll do the same!

Geoff and the girls

Venus, Lauren and Erin at Dodger Stadium

Geoff

Geoff, John and are are also junkies regarding the Scott Peterson case.  Small world that Erin and Lauren's old baby sitter grew up with Laci.  Benjamin's teacher & and her husband  ( Shelly's close friends) were also friends of Scott and Laci.  Darlene and Tom Arnold.  Tom was interviewed on television right after Laci disappeared. They went to high school with her and Tom golfed with Scott.   They own 2 restaurants that we frequent sometimes when we have Ben with us. They always give Ben special treatment like letting him go in the kitchen and get special food.    I worked in Ben's class one day a week and always was too embarrassed to ask her about their connection.  I watched the movie on tv about Scott and Laci.  I really think that the friends who had the restaurant in the movie was probably about the Arnolds.   Did you see that movie?

Now John and I are hooked on the news about the new girl that is missing in Utah.  Actually I am a Court TV addict.  I usually have it on during the day and stop to watch the trials off and on during the day.  Then Nancy Grace and her crew of attorney friends give the lastest updates & opinions on the latest crimes on the Fox Channel.  She, as a prosecution attorney argues constantly with the defense attorneys.  Quite amusing sometimes!

Updates

Hi all! Pictures just won't post through the email to this site. It's basically a text bulletin board...however there is a work-around that takes a few steps...if you've got something that you'd like posted, email it to me and I'd be glad to do it for you.

Auntie Marge...I'm definitely stopping on the way home to get a National Inquirer! I'm such a junkie regarding the Scott Peterson case, I read everything I can find on that! I'm not pleased at how it's being reported by the media. It's not looking great for the prosecution. I don't see how anyone can judge "who's winning" without hearing the whole case. If anything, outside opinion will sway the jury...you know they run home and watch the news or The Abrahams Report every night (I do!). There's two idiot talk-show guys down here that love to talk non-stop about Scott Peterson and "backwoods" Modesto. They were the two that had the bull horn out in Scott's front yard screaming "Murderer!" when Laci first went missing. We get daily reports from Redwood city on that radio station. Erin and Lauren's old baby-sitter grew up with Laci, she always has interesting insight on the latest. So what did Mike see? I missed the Oprah episode. Dang.

Ok, gotta go back to work, more later!

Geoff

Sorry that my Pismo story was sent twice.  It clicked off the first time leaving me to think it did not take.  The Swiss toilet does not show a picture on my screen--only a square box with an x in it.

Have any of you seen Mike Chiavetta in the National Inquirer?  I caught it by mistake at Save Mart as I was attracted to the Scott Peterson headlines on the front.  After looking inside there was Mike in his Giants tee shirt. Karen Servas is also in there.  She was the one who found the dog.  She was married to our Mike's friend, Jeff Wilson.

For those of you who don't know Margaret and I have been battling with Gottschalks Dept store Finance Dept.  They think we are one person now after I was mistakenly given her account number to charge items. My items were charged on her account and her bill was sent to me with my charges and her charges put together.  It has been a mind boggler on how they can not seem to get it straigntened out after both of us have called and sent letters.  When I got home from Pismo there was a message on the phone for me to call back.  The lady sounded intoxicated.  Maybe that is the problem.  Maybe she thinks she is seeing double when in fact there are two of us.

Thanks Sharon for letting us know when your parents are coming back.  John and I walked by there last night and peeked in the window.  It didn't look like anyone was home so we didn't ring the bell. We'll be waiting to hear about their trip.  Maybe we can get Fran on this site also.

Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks

Hello everyone!

Our vacation to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks was wonderful!  According to Nicolaus, "It was the best vacation yet!"  The beauty of the parks and of Wyoming in general is spectacular.  Now we understand why Bryan never came back!

Jeff hiked us through 48.8 miles (the kids kept track) of grizzly-free trails and canyons.  Our favorite area was the Tetons where their snow-capped peaks and green valleys stood boldly in contrast to the bright blue skies.  Sometimes it felt as if we were in Switzerland!  We did manage to see several moose and bird species on our hikes, but the bison, elk, deer and single bear we saw were viewed safely from our vehicle.  I was thankful for that!

Among the kids' favorite highlights were almost hitting a bison -- it nonchalantly entered the roadway from behind a tree -- which we were able to avoid with good brakes and a last moment turnaround by the animal.  God was surely looking out for us as we came to within a yard of making contact.  The kids also enjoyed a chuckwagon dinner with cowboy entertainment at Bar-J Ranch in Jackson, speed boating on Jackson Lake, and taking a water sample from the Great Salt Lake.  The later was the boys' idea.

After a long desert drive home, we're happy to be back safely.  Hope all is well with your families, too!

Here's a picture of a public toilet in Switzerland that's made
entirely out of one-way glass. No one can see you in there, but when
you are inside, it looks like you're sitting in a clear glass box.

I MISS YOU ALL.  What's UUUP!                                                                                                                                                                       & nbsp;

Pismo Beach

The JRScheubers have returned from the annual trip to Pismo Beach.  It was such fun playing with the Grandkids.  John, Marge, Matt, Zac, Mike, Ted, and Ben all got in some golf.  Actually John golfed 4 times while we were there. ( Watch out Leo! )

Ted took the boys out late one night on an adventure on the beach.  Besides setting off firecrackers ( and escaping the police) they found themselves on the local news as observers to a woman who had caught a shark off the pier. Zac decided that was it for riding the waves on the boards.

John and Diane Corgiat, Ann and Max, Casey and her boys joined us at the beach one day.  We made Plaster of Paris sculptures in the sand and as usual attracted beachcombers wondering what in the world we were doing with our heads in the sand.

While we were gone John and I lost a dear lodge friend to cancer and found out that Dr. Woodward (Vet and President of VSI) has about 2 weeks to live. (cancer victim also.)
John was very upset upon hearing the news about Woody.  He is hoping that he can talk to him today.

So good to hear news from Bryan and Tammy

Back home again

The JR Scheuber family have returned to their abodes from their annual trip to Pismo Beach.  All had a great time swimming, water sliding, golfing, beachcombing, eating out each night, shopping the outlet stores, and playing games each night in our motel rooms.

All the male members and Marge went golfing.  Actually John golfed 4 times while we were there. (watch out Leo!)  We made our usual plaster of paris sand sculptures and attracted the beachcombers wondering what we were doing with our heads in the sand.  This tradition goes back years ---- starting with the PJ's.  Marge and Jay learned how to do these sculptures from June Bates art class.

Ann and Max, Casey and boys, John and Diane Corgiat joined us for some of the activities.  We tried to lose the kids one night as we headed for Old Juan's Mexican Restaurant.  They were there ahead of us.  We found our own table away from the action.  Actually the grandkids were great.  One night we all went out to MCFlintocks (sp?)  and were complimented on our lovely well-mannered grandchildren.  No comment on the kids and grandparents though!

While we were gone we found out a dear lodge member died at age 72 of cancer and Dr. Woodward (VSI veterinarian and president of the company) has about 2 weeks to live as  he battles the cancer that he has had for years.  John is so very upset at hearing this news.

So good to hear news from Bryan and Tammy.  Does anyone know when Bill and Fran are returning home?  Hope to hear from them soon.

Hey Wyoming Scheubs

Great to hear from you! We're all back from vacation and various trips.  It's been blazing hot in Long Beach. Lauren made $7 at her and a neighborhood girl's lemonade stand, so the young Rockefeller is deciding what to do with all the cash. Erin is busy tapping away on the computer, the best way to stay close to all her school buddies this summer. Concerts in the park started up again (much like Graceada) right around the corner, so we packed up dinner and spent the evening in the park. An electric scooter is as close to bull riding as the girls here have been. Hope all is well with you guys. Send me a photo or two of the family and I'll post it up on here.

Take care,

Misc.

Congratulations Ashlee on your new position at Carnegie Middle School!  Do they call their gymnasium Carnegie Hall!  Ha!!

Jeff, Lori and family,  Have a great time on your trip to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone.  Do watch out for the bears.  Once when Shelly was in college she took a trip to Yosemite alone.  As she was hiking she came upon some bear cubs.  She made a quick dash to get away from there since she knew the mother must have been close by.  So beware!!

The J. R. Scheubers (kids and grandkids included ) are taking our annual trip to Pismo on July 13 to stay at the Sea Gypsy. ( the Pius & John family traditional Pismo site)  Actually it is a favorite place for the Bowen's and the Hodges also.  We found out recently that our high school friends John and Diane Corgiat will also be there at the motor home park.  They were there last year also. We will also be seeing niece Casey since she lives in Nipoma.

Tomorrow we are taking Benjamin and heading to the Duarte's annual 4th party.  Hope to see some of you there.  Happy 4th      oleomarge

Thank You to All You "Light Detectives"

Hello Everyone,

Many thanks to all those Scheuber sleuths who went in search of our missing light!  It was very much appreciated.   Jeff's co-worker, Donae (some of you know her), was so happy and thankful.  What a testimonial to this new "Scheuber News" site!!

Congratulations to Ashlee on her new position.  We wish you and Mike all the best with your new jobs, new home, and new community.  Luckily you have the old family around to add an element of stability.

The Coleman family is setting off on Tuesday for an adventure to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks.  We are really looking forward to it!  Jeff has plans to hike us up and down and around as many mountains as possible -- hopefully on Grizzly-free trails!  Our original plan was to include an excursion to Sheridan to see Bryan and Tammy, but Wyoming is a lot bigger state than we thought!  Unfortunately, time doesn't allow for a visit this vacation, but we hope to include a visit during some future travels, perhaps when we visit Glacier National Park or Mount Rushmore.

Happy Summer to All!

Lori

We have found the light!!  Sounds poetic doesn't it?  Anyway, Zacaray was given the light.  Zacary lives in Oakdale with his dad.  Mike will be seeing him and get the light.  Lori, you may want to call Mike about this.  His number is 883-0601.    oleomarge
