Bye, bye Sandi

Sandi has left Switzerland after a bit more than
one week here. I hope she enjoyed her stay here
as much as we did. Visiting Rotzberg and
relatives at Stans (also the Schmidgass Chäserei
and Grittli and Sepp - Grandparents of Tanja).
This made some things clear again about who is
who - also for me ;-)
As we had hardly any snow this winter in the
lower areas it was a big surprise that with
Sandi's arrive here the big snowfall came - at
the end of March. So we still could spend a few
hours in the snow, on the seld - great fun and a
bit dangerous.
Maurus and Andri are missing here and Andri will
probably talk for quite a while about "Sandwich"
- sounds all so similar.

Marge: the bearded bread you mentioned below is
called "Zopf". And the picture you found when you
googled - this was Maurus when he was probably a
bit older than one year. I placed this picture on
a photo-sharing page. Interesting that it is used.

Sandi will share with you hopefully a lot of
great memories of her wintertrip to Switzerland.
So the open question is...... who's next?

I just wanted to tell you that I had an easy and fast travel home and am now
back in Buochs where it is all wintery (Snow, Temp. 32...).
I already vistited my new flat. It is great! Tomorrow we well paint the livingroom
and bedroom. The livingroom is gonna be all red, white and black ;-)

Swiss bits continued

Sandi called from Switzerland today.  Kuno and Rennie picked her up at the airport. Cornell was also there to greet her. She is staying  with Kuno's family for a few days before she joins her friends (their annual ski trip) She is going to see Elsbeth, Tanta Mari, other cousins and making a trip to the Rotzbarg  She says that Kuno's sister has a daughter that looks that Megan Scheuber and a son who resembles Matthew when he was that age. Interesting!

Have a great time Sandi!  (or as Kuno's little boy calls you Sandwich)

PS  please excuse  if any mispelled names -- no time to look them up in the family tree

Swiss bits

My computer crashed so have been unable to post for some time.  Was thinking of Tanya today as her stay here in America is about up.  What a wonderful young lady!  We so enjoyed her presence at our house.  We took her to the top of Mount Diablo!  As we were driving up the winding  mountain road and looking down at the green surroundings she commented that it reminded her of home.

Another day we went to Sacramento Old town where we met the Peffermans and watched an old time shoot out.  Ben recognized them as the same group that robbed our train when we took the Sacramento River Train ride about 6 months ago.  Tanya found a turquoise ring that she said would remind her of going over the ocean to America.

Tanya got a glimpse of schools in California as she spent one afternoon at Ben's Language and Reading class and another morning at my friend Maria's 3rd grade class. The third graders loved her as she spent time telling them about Switzerland and answering questions. Then she entertained them with her lovely guitar and singing talents. They didn't want her to leave.

We found out that she likes playing games as we do at our house.  She learned how to play Tripoly and beat us all the first night.  She is taking back our extra game to teach her family in Switzerland.  After she left us to return to Leo and Marge's, John said a few nights later that he missed her.  So her called her to tell her if she wanted to play some more Tripoly that she could come over.  She decided that she wanted to cook for us so she  prepared a lovely meal for Leo, Marge, and three of us.  Then it was back to a game of Tripoly.

I am sure that all of you Scheubers that have had time with her have some great memories.
