October 15........Grandma Bertha Scheuber's birthday.  A moment of silence and prayer for this wonderful mother, mother-in-law and grandma. She was truly a blessed lady!!

So good to hear from the Wyoming Scheubers!  Sounds like they are so enjoying raising their lovely children and enjoying the Cowboy/Cowgirl life.  Or should I say rearing their lovely children and raising horses?   Willie Nelson must be wrong with that song: "Mamma Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys. ...

Back Home Again in Indiana!!

As Jim Nabors would sing this song at the Indy 500, John and I would always take a few moments to reflect on our life back there some time ago.  We got to make the song come alive as we drove by our old house across from the Franciscan Monastery and observed that not much had changed.  Only that the trees are taller.  We attended Mass at St. Marys next to the school where our Scheuber kids spent many days tromping across the school yard in the snow. We walked across the driveway going down the hill from the school yard where Shelly(in Mettler's car)slid down  and ran into a parked car at the bottom. The Mettler's home looks much the same as when we were there.  Jean still has two of Bill Scheuber farm paintings in her family room. (John took pictures to show Bill) She also has Shelly's framed senior picture still in the same spot where it was hung when Shelly lived there.

The dinner party given for us was so greatly appreciated for we were able to visit all of our closest friends back there.  Of course they look much older than us!!!  Seeing all of Jack and Jean's grandkids swimming in the pool was  a flashback of our kids and all the neigborhood kids (sometimes 20 or so) swimming there in the 1970's. Jean's son Tom brought out a picture of Mike and all his Huntington buddies posing  in their speedos at the pool.  Sorry Mike, we couldn't help laughing!!

Lexington, Kentucky was fabulous!!  The horse farms were as beautiful as we remembered!! Couldn't help thinking of Alex Duarte as we saw the young ladies at our hotel in their English riding outfits. Horse activities going on all around the area!  We toured a race track, two horse farms and a whiskey and bourban distillery.  Hiccup!!

Wyoming

Hello Everyone,

We have just wrapped an incredible summer.  Teal and Garrett wanted to hit the road with their horses’ this summer, so we joined the Wyoming Junior Rodeo Association, Sheridan Cowgirls Association, and went to some open rodeos.    We had a great time traveling around the state seeing new country, making friends, and camping.  It was neat watching Teal and Garrett improved their horsemanship skills and the friendships they made.  After every rodeo the kids would ask where are we going to next?

Teal and Garrett had a great summer.  Teal ended up winning her first Rodeo buckle in the Goat Tail Tying at the Sheridan County Rodeo.  Sheridan Cowgirls she was 1st in the Goat Tail Tying, and third in the dummy roping.  The Wyoming Junior Rodeo Association she ended up 2nd in the state for Goat Tail Tying, 10th in pole bending, 14th in barrel racing, and 7th in the all-around.    Garrett is still being lead even though he thinks he can ride by himself.  He tied every goat this summer.  He also made friends that he would dummy team rope with after the rodeos’.    I even had a chance to do some roping this summer.  We went to 23 rodeos in three months and the kids still want to go.   Our horses are getting some much needed rest, but Teal and Garrett have already started practicing their roping and goat tying on the ground for next summer.
