''GREAT NEWS FOR MODESTO/ AND THE NEPHEW"

Hi And Hello, Thanks to Auntie Olemarge, we got the news about (Nephew Jeff Duarte )and his  FAT CAT NIGHT CLUB .

We also send our CONGRATULATIONS to Jeff & his employees and his proud parents." Way to go Jeff, Keep ON ROCKING".

God Bless, Uncle Bill & Auntie Fran.

Fat Cat wins MAMA trophy

Those out of town Scheubers may not know that your
hometown roots now have their very own Music
Awards--Modesto Music Association Awards, better known
as the MAMA AWARDS. A full page article about this
event was featured in today's SCENE section of the
Modesto Bee. This year they were held at the FAT CAT
and the FAT CAT took it's 3rd trophy for being the
best night club. Cousin Jeff was quoted as saying: "I
never had to learn how to play guitar; I never had to
learn how to sing. I just had to know how to hire some
good people." Well, we family members know he learned
that from his MAMA AND DADA. Congratulations to Jeff
and the employees at the FAT CAT. The show will be
webcast at www.modestoview.com for anyone interested.

Sandi in the News in Durango

Excerpt taken from the Durango Telegraph

Earlier this summer, an open studio followed the
company's ( 3rd Ave. Dance Co) final rehearsal of "In
the Groove," a sassy jazz piece by Sandi Scheuber, a
California-based choreographer. Scheuber spent a mere
11 hours over a weekend with dancers Lisa Bodwalk,
Kristen Brewer, Sadie etc. etc. The process of
having a choreographer's vision "set" on dancers is
demanding, engaging and rewarding work. During a break
in the practice, Bodwalk offered to her fellow
dancers, "This is really challenging with so many
exits and entrances...it is such an adjustment from
the practice in the studio to the rehearsal on the
stage. There is such a difference between learning
the movement and, finally, feeling the movement." At
one point during the open studio, Scheuber commented
to the audience, "This is the first time that I have
seen the dancers smiling and laughing."
The music of "In the Groove is infectious and the
dancers rock, literally, across the stage, making the
complicated sequences look effortless and incredibly
fun. The piece is visually graphic and offers
contrasting elements: dancers bodies form straight
lines that intersect and weave as they move across the
stage and then dissolve into thier singular spaces.
The orange and pink stage lights heighten the hotness
of the already fast-paced work, as does the movement
of dancers coalescing into tight clusters then
exploding outward. Scooping air as if to feed their
creative fires, the dancers use open-handed gestures
to signal the audience to catch the energy bursting
beyond the stage. The piece had a swingingly raucous
power that offered relief to this audience member's
body, sitting in her hard and unforgiving theater
seat.

A Day in the Park

Here's an excerpt from a recent note sent to me from the Swiss Riegel regarding the Myth, the Legend....yours truly Aja Scheuber! Thought you'd all enjoy.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"One funny story. In last Saturday's game vs. West Valley San Jose in fall ball, Aja hits a line drive off the pitcher's shoulder into center field for a hit in the first inning and a double off of the fence in the third.

So the next time up they walk her on four pitches and this is fall ball where they don't really keep score or stats just let everybody play, so the coaches can evaluate talent.

Aja comes up in the 7th and she isn't pleased. They throw the first two pitches outside and the visitors dugout is on the third base side and close to the field and she's hitting left handed and can look right into the dugout. The first two outside pitches she lines foul into the dugout right at the coach and scatters everybody!!

I asked her after the game if she did that on purpose and she said "yeah they walked me in fall ball that's stupid." The visiting coach stood behind the fence the rest of the game. .......................The legend continues."

Love it!
