We are saying a prayer and keeping our fingers crossed for you.  I'm sure your interview was tops and you have such great experience behind you now.  Good Luck!    Marge, JOhn and Ben.

lost light

Lori,  Sandi remembers the light also.  She said they were calling it a flasher but does not know who ended up with the item.  We were thinking that maybe Zac had it.  I called Sarah last night. She didn't remember seeing the light but was going to have Mike call Zac last night.   I will call Mike again tonight to see if he found out anything.  Sure hope we can locate it for the fireman who lost it.

The Lost Item is Still Lost!

Hello Everyone,

Our lost Grimbleby Coleman light is still missing so I thought I might send out this quick note to see if anyone may have come across it in the last few days.  To refresh your memories, its a small square light that attaches to a belt or waistband and it belongs to the husband of one of Jeff's co-workers.  If you know anything about it, keep me posted.

That's all folks!

Thanks,
Lori

Happy 4th of July

Hey all-
Had a great time at the relay this year! The grand total raised was $413,000.  I was sitting next to Ben as the total was announced and he clapped away. What an extraordinary young man!!!  We also watched Sarah as she received an award for the team raising over $1000.  Awesome!!!

I had my job interview today (cold sore and all-Thanks V for the Tea Tree Oil. It really helped).  I will hopefully find out by the end of this week if I got the job. (I think it went very well.)  Mike, jokingly, says I need to go on several interviews just like he had to last year! Truthfully, he'll be ecstatic if I get it.

Looking forward to seeing some college friends this weekend in of all places...... Modesto.  My friends just bought a huge house near Dutch Hollow and they will host a Couples Shower for some other friends whom are getting married in Yosemite on Thanksgiving weekend. (You might remember him-he was the Neil Diamond lip singer at our wedding.)

Have a safe 4th of July!

Relay for Life

Wow, what a weekend..........
Reading your comments and viewing the pictures is special.  Again this year, I can't help but comment on the family togetherness and the feeling of closeness with this bunch of our younger generation that gave of their time and spirit to make the Scheubers for Life team what it was this past Saturday and Sunday.  Looking at all the bags (luminaria) shows how many people that have lost their life or been affected by  cancer.  Most of those displayed Saturday night were probably local people.  The first lap with all those survivors (Marge included) tells us that maybe our cause of participating in the Relay for Life is working.

Sarah, Sandi, and Geoff, thanks for taking the time to organize and carry out the detailed parts of the day.  Hopefully next year more family and friends will join us in our efforts.

On another note........Lori is looking for the light that was found and passed on to one of our tem members.  If I'm not mistaking, the lady that found the light handed it to one of our kids.  If the adults that were there would check with the younger group I'm sure we should be able to locate the light and return it to the owner.  It's a small light, green in color (I think) that clips to the belt.  Let's find it!!!!!!!!

Again, thanks for your efforts and allowing us to be part of a super day

Relay for Life

We had another great year at the Relay for Life with the Scheuber family and earned more money for the cause with our newly added raffle.  The Foster Chickens were quite a hit as they were seated on their spiffy cart ( designed and constructed by Uncle Leo) making the rounds on the track.

I am always amazed and saddened each year to see more people at the relay that I know that have been inflicted with this terrible disease or that have lost someone during the past year. I was excited to see a girl from Ben's school (who has gone through chemo treatments this  last year) walking the track. I have seen her on the local channel designing plates for the Cattlemen's Ball (another cancer fund raiser )  John and I were at the Cattlemen's Ball this year and those plates were purchased by our mayor's wife  for $3000.  Aside from the sadness of the cancer cases,  it is encouraging to see all the monies that are being earned before and during the relay to help fight for a cure.

At about 10:30 Sat night Grandpa Scheuber was looking down on us at the track from  the large screen. (That delightful picture of him from Switzerland that many of us have)  I am sure his spirit was there with us.

Many thanks to all of you that were able to take part.      oleomarge

relay for life

Geoff, the pictures are fantastic!  Ben and I enjoyed looking at them today.

Relay For Life -- Lost Item!

Hello Everyone,

We had a wonderful time at the Relay for Life as we all banded together to support the American Cancer Society!  I'm sure proud to be part of the "Scheuber Family For Life" gang even though I'm officially a "Counting on a Cure" Grimbleby Coleman supporter (Jeff says I'm a "Coleman For Life", too!).

Anyway ... it seems a representative from the Grimbleby Coleman booth found a square light that attaches to a belt or waistband and passed it along to someone in the Scheuber booth, thinking it didn't belong to her group.  However, it did belong to a husband of one of the employees who is a fireman.  The light is part of his equipment and he would like to find it, if we can track it down.

If you know what might have happened to it, please call Lori at 209/634-9836.  A reward of cookies is offered if you live close enough for me to deliver them!!

It was great seeing everyone!

Thanks, Lori

We have some of the items

We have 6 foot table (but we can use another, at least).

We will bring our not so eazyup.

We are doing flyer about raffle that hopefully the younger set can hand out.

    We do need change.

We have baskets for tickets, if desired.

We will bring pens for completing the back side of the ticket with name and phone number.

More if we think of it.....
    Antymarge

    Items for Relay

We have one 6 foot table (actually, I think we need at least one more), we have one eazyup.  These we will bring.

Ticket boxes: we have baskets and Dad has a wooden bucket if they would be OK.  We could use a locked box for $?

We will bring pens to write names and phone numbers on back of the tickets.  We also need ones and fives for change--about $100 or so.

The transportation device for the Foster Imposters is complete.  It defies description.

We are putting together a flyer - 4 to a page - on the raffle.  Leo will take it to work tomorrow and hope that Anita will let him make lots of copies on the copy machine.  Then the younger folks can perhaps hand these out as they meander about?

More as we think of it....

    Surprise Visit

Uncle John had a Happy Father's Day with all of his clan here to celebrate his day and also Zac's birthday. (Zac & Erin --teenagers now )  Sandi came in early on Saturday to help Grandma Marge take care of Riley while her parents were off to a Giant's game.  Our doorbell rang that evening. Upon opening the door a sun-tanned Sharon was asking if Sandi could play.  Boy, did that bring back memories of days at Barham Ct. when Sharon would actually come over to play.  We had a nice visit with Sharon. When you see Sharon at the Relay for Life, ask her about her recent time spent in prison and why they didn't want her to leave.

Congrats to Innovative Structures Inc. (Uncle Bill's employers)  for being honored as the Western Region Self-Storage Builder of the Year and a Million Dollar Builder for the sixth consecutive year. A pat on the back for Uncle Bill for doing his part in helping them earn this honor.

Watch out for your shoes at the Relay!  Riley loves not only her own shoes but others also.
Once she tries them on you are shoeless and clueless as to where they have gone.  We searched high and low (not really high) for Sidney's shoes but Sidney went home shoeless and we were clueless.

Geoff, the shirts are lovely!    Happy 46th Wedding Anniversary to Leo and Marge.  The Golden one is getting closer!!!!!!!!!!!

    From Antie (Leo) Marge

    Monday, June 14
I finally figured this out and let's see if this message works.  Leo thought that his message got lost in the outer world somewhere and did not make it to the site, but I see that it not only made it, but did it twice.

    News from SoCal

Glad to see all the activity on here!

Just some quick updates from the G. Scheubers South. Erin and Lauren finish school this Wednesday, and can hardly wait! Venus and I hosted Erin and 3 of her 13 year old girlfriends this weekend at a sleepover in Long Beach. I've never felt so old. I think my "cool-factor" finally peeked and is rapidly declining as noted by the icy-blank-stares of said teenagers. We kinda stayed out of the way. Erin is changing daily. She finishes 7th grade this year, and completed 8th grade algebra along the way.

Lauren is becoming more the athlete these days. She finished a soccer season that took us all the way to Banning, CA (don't stop there if you see the signs, I can tell you all about it) for semi-finals. She played basketball again and has her layups down to a science. We live near the Rec Park Golf Course here in Long Beach, and she'll taking lessons in August. Fearless, that girl. She finishes 4th grade. Am very proud of the two!

Venus is sweet as can be as always. We've made new friends in our neighborhood and feel fortunate to have lucked into such a great spot. We've been working quite a bit on our house. It's a 70 year old Spanish bungalow and we've had lots of fun making it ours. Next up is the backyard.

Travel this summer will bring us up to Modesto for the Relay in a few weeks. The girls are headed out to Chicago for a week in July, and we'll probably camp up in the Santa Barbara area in August. Venus found this great place in Palm Springs so we'll celebrate our 3rd anniversary there in September.

Hope you all are doing well. Gotta run, see you soon!

    Geoff

PS All 4 of us will be up for Christmas this year too!

    (no subject)

Hello everyone!  Cool shirt for the relay.  I can now open up my own clothing store with all the Scheuber Crest logos on them!!

Mike and I don't have many summer plans this year other than a few weddings, a camping trip with friends, and putting in our backyard in the new house.

My last day at Castillero Middle School is Wednesday (June16).  I have been here 6 years and have LOVED every minute of it. I learned so many things from my first teaching experience.  Although I will be sad to leave my colleagues, I am more excited to start a new life in Folsom and actually see Mike EVERYDAY!!!

We wish you a safe summer!  See most of you at the Relay.

    Ashlee (and Mike)

Thanks Geoff..........T-shirt design looks great.  Is it too costly to go with a collared shirt?  Not really important but that would allow me to wear it on the golf course.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at the Relay for Life activity.  We both think this is a very worthwhile cause and make it a priority to participate.

Other news.........Marge is off to San Francisco today for one of her performing arts activities with a couple of friends land I leave at the break of dawn for my annual Three day GYAO golf outing.  For those not acquainted with GYAO, it stands for some nasty expression of playing four rounds of golf in three days.  We play at the Presidio in San Francisco Sunday and Alameda/Oakland area Monday and Tuesday, the attending a Giants game Tuesday evening before coming home .  Should be fun.

    Uncle Leo (or otherwise)

Geoff.thanks for putting this together.  The t-shirt design looks great.........only wish more would be wearing it.  Looking forward to the Relay for Life activity.  Marge and I look forward to seeing everyone involved each year and have made it a priority to schedule our activities around that date.  Reference to T-shirt........would it be too costly do at collared shirt?.

Other news........Marge is off to San Francisco today for one of her performing arts activities with a couple of friends and I depart at the break of dawn for San Francisco for my annual GYAO three day golf outing.  (GYAO standing for some nasty expression of playing four rounds of golf in three days

Hope all is well with everyone and look forward to receiving timely updates in the SCHEUBER NEWS.  Thanks, Geoff!

    johnny come lately

Hi All,  This news line is a great idea! Being a little computer inept,  I had a problem trying to spell "Scheuber"  and I had never heard of a " blogger".   We look forward to seeing Scheuber family at the Relay for Life.  SUMMER PLANS  Marge and I are planning a trip to Canada to meet relatives on her mother's side of the family.  We also will be taking our annual JRS family (kids & grandkids) to Pismo Beach.   Jim, Leo and I continue to be very involved in the Ag Pavillion Learning Center.  (the most hi-tech interactive agricultural museum in the world)   Jim & Anita have graciously offered their home for a fund raising BBQ involving a portion of the Ag. Industry.  All is well at VSI.   Later,  Uncle/brother John.

    Raffle for Relay for Life

    Hi, from Niece/Cousin Sandi!

We're gearing up for the annual Relay for Life (9 am June 26 to 9am June 27 at the Johansen HS stadium).  This year we're trying to raise a little more money for the Amercian Cancer Society,so we are having a raffle.  So far, we are raffling off 2 Foster Imposter stuffed chickens (compliments of Sarah).  I will be contributing a few gift cards - Jamba Juice, Cold Stone Creamery, and Target.  Uncle/Brother/Dad John is pitching in a few pet-related items from VSI.  If you have any items you'd like to donate or ideas, please let me know before June 26 so I can put a complete listing together.  We hope to make it something people can get excited about winning!

I hope you all drop by to say hello, cheer us on, and join in the Scheuber camraderie!

The biggest change for me lately is that my boss has just purchased a sports performance franchise.  In a nutshell, I will be helping him open and run an indoor athletic training facility for all ages in San Carlos.  It's called Velocity Sports Performance.  We are still in the computer consulting business as well, at least for the time being.  I hope we do well enough to get out of that completely.  Time for something new and different.  We plan to open in the fall.  If you want to check us out, we're at www.velocitysp.com/sancarlos

Other upcoming events:  I'm off to Pismo in July and England/Scotland in August.

I look forward to seeing updates here from all of the family.  Hope all is well in Scheuber land.

    Geoff

    Geoff,  What a great idea!
Maybe we can be more informed of what is going on in the family.  Maybe we won't have to say "  I didn't know anything about that."   That has happened to John and I when we have heard someone has had a health problem & we had no idea.  Or  "  I didn't know _________ was pregnant."

Many thanks to Sarah, Sandi and you for all the planning you do for the Relay for Life.  It started with a memory for Shelly in raising funds for a cure so that others will some day not have to endure the pain and suffering and has now reached out to remembering all others in all of our families who have suffered with cancer:  Grandpa Scheuber, Sarah's brother, my parents, uncles and aunts, our sister-in-law Marge ( a survivor)  and her best friend Barbara G. and others maybe that I have not intentionally left out.  Thanks to our new participants:  my sister Ann, and a friend of Sarah's, and any others I don't know about who set aside this weekend to join us in the SEARCH FOR THE CURE.   We are happy to have Sarah's parents back again this year.  It is such a wonderfuly touching experience each year to see all the participants come together to raise all this money for this worthy cause.  We all have a great time doing this.  It is also a place to meet many old friends and acquaintances and meet new ones.  Thanks for keeping this activity alive in our family.

LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING YOU & FAMILY ON THE 26TH!

    Aunt Marge E.

    Great Find, Geoff ! ! !

I'll try to keep you updated on the EP Scheuber's activities!

The latest thing with us is a 26' Travel Trailer! We're off this weekend
with Steve, Melissa and the kids for our Maiden Voyage. I guess that's how
you see if the potty and shower work! ! ! Steve and Melissa are the
"PROS", so they will be giving us only the BEST advice. You know, us OLD
FOLKS, we need all the help we can get! We'll be gone the weekend of the
Relay for Life as we will be up in Arnold so we won't be seeing all of you
    then.

I hope that all of you are doing fine. The sisters-in-law all had lunch
last Monday - we haven't done that for a while and it is always fun catching
up on the family news. These days with the population explosion, it's
    pretty exciting! ! !

Take care, and again Thank you !

    Much Love, Auntie Mary Jane
