Was that January?

Wow...that month flew by! Haven't even had a moment to pop in and read what's going on with the family!

All is well in LB, we're still deep into soccer. Lauren's team is working their way through the playoffs...the season goes on and on and on. Bill, we're still on target to see Aja play down here in February. Erin is well...she'll be updating the Special Days piece again soon. Venus and I are looking forward to re-working the backyard this year, if it ever stops raining!

Anxious to hear from you all,

Geoff

THE TRADITION AWARD

First, let me apologize for my lack of involvement on the Scheuber web. Each of us has an excuse for not participating in something.  My work ethic like, most of yours limits the time I do things that don't relate to work.

Every New Year's Eve it has become a tradition that Bill and Fran started to have all of the original Scheuber clan to meet for dinner and share in the delicacies of Mom's favorite recipes.  We are all asked to contribute and bring some traditional savory dish.

Bill is to be congratulated if not awarded the "Tradition Award" for his continuity in providing the pasta (Alpen Macarona) that holds this function together.  As I understand Beely has caught a lot of flack over his contributions to the Scheuber web.  Well Beely, I am here to compliment you for what you do to keep us together and to provide a great reminder of our roots.  While we have no "Fiddler on our Roof" we have Beely.

Scheuber in the news

Check out the Old Mill Cafe!!  " Breakfast is a specialty at the new Old Mill Cafe"  is the title of the article in the Scene section of today's Modesto Bee.  Toward the end of the article Uncle Bill is given credit for his fitting mural of an old mill:  " In addition to more seating, the new restaurant boasts a mural of a windmill, painted by longtime customer William Scheuber."  Hey Bill, how is Karin's Old Mill omelet?

We want to be first in line!

John and Marge.........

What a coincidence.........Marge and I have been planning a trip to Sannibel Island for some time and have decided to make it our first trip of the year. You know, to relax after the Christmas holidays and just try to get back on our feet for the rest of the year. Here we are packing our bags and in the rush forgot completely about accomodations and out of the clear blue comes an offer of such a beautiful place and a price that we can probably handle if you are willing to negotiate. Besides price I would like to ask for an additional favor. Because of recent hip replacement I am unable to climb stairs and was wondering first if you could have an elevator installed, but realized the expense may be more than you would want spend so soon after your purchase. So.......I'm asking (since we're driving) that you install a ramp so that we can drive to the front door. And..................if you think about it, this would make your new investment handicapped accessible and you probably would have people standing in line to rent the place.

Let us know what we can work out..............our bags are almost packed.

P.S. A diving board would give quicker access to the water. Just a thought!

Santa was a hit!!

Wow!  Santa had his hands full of presents and his lap full of bottoms.  His must have been tired after leaving the Scheuber Clan on Christmas Eve.  Hopefully we will see some pictures on this site!!  It was amazing seeing the little Scheuber kids go from tearing around the garage to sitting quietly as Santa is about to enter.  Santa even got some presents for himself to keep his runny nose dry on his way back to the North Pole. He is such a jolly old man and we appreciate him soooooooooooo much.

Yes, we had quite a crowd of Scheubers and kin --- a total of 68 people this year.  It was great to see almost everyone together again.  Do you think we had enough food?  Guess we need to cut down on that.  Sandi suggested that the younger generation bring the appetizers and the old folks bring the desserts.  That might work since there are fewer old folks and we don't need the desserts.  We are sweet enough already!!!.  Thanks to all of you for  attending and bringing the tasty appetizers and yummy desserts.

Thanks to Sarah and Mike for having all of the JRS's for Christmas dinner.  Sarah roasted a  delicious Foster Farms Turkey (what else?)  and a Honey baked ham.  We also enjoyed the company of Sarah's parents who both have such a great sense of humor.  Ed always has interesting witty stories to tell.

Thanks to Bill and Fran for hosting their annual New Year's Eve dinner for the older generation.  We always look forward to a dinner in honor of Grandma Scheuber as we all bring something that she would have served on her table at the Scheuber ranch.  No one can top Uncle Bill's macaroni.  Later the party was crashed by Sharon and Steve filling us in on the Crazies at the Crocodile New Year's Eve party.  It was a lovely evening as usual.

Happy New Year to all!
