Aja / Past and Present ----- Enjoy !!!!

Finding a softball star from the Central Valley, CSU Bakersfield Softball head coach Crissy Buck has hired former Fresno State star Aja Scheuber as her assistant coach.
Scheuber, who played for Fresno State's traditional powerhouse program in the 2007 and '08 seasons, comes to the Roadrunners from Colorado State University, where she served as a volunteer assistant softball coach earlier this year. Scheuber also held the position of assistant softball coach at New Mexico Highlands University in the 2010-11 season and held the same post at Taft College in 2009-10.
"Her playing experience at Fresno State, a defined program with a rich tradition of winning, as well as her experience in the Central Valley, was a big factor in looking at her for this position," Buck said. "Her knowledge of the game and her passion is exactly what this program needs to establish a winning culture at the Division I level."
Buck said Scheuber will assist the team with hitting and outfield duties and her primary focus on game days will be working with pitchers and catchers and calling pitches.
Prior to transitioning to a coach, Scheuber, a Turlock, Calif., native, played at Merced Community College before transferring to Fresno State to finish out her collegiate career at the Division I level.
Scheuber, who was a utility player, helped the Bulldogs earn a Western Athletic Conference championship in 2007. In her senior season in 2008, she started all 67 games for Fresno State and recorded a .342 batting average with 48 RBIs, 31 runs scored, nine doubles and five homers. Her performance earned her an NCAA West Regional Team selection.
Off the field, Schubert was named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American first team and was also a two-time WAC All-Academic and Fresno State Dean's List selection.
Scheuber earned a bachelor of arts degree in sociology from Fresno State and added a master's degree in human performance and sport from New Mexico Highland University.
Buck will also be aided by volunteer assistant student coach Ryane Petersen. Petersen ranked among the top power hitters for Roadrunners the last two seasons after transferring from Fresno State. Petersen started all 52 games at first base for CSUB in 2011 and added 10 pitching appearances in 2010. In her two seasons as a Roadrunner, Petersen recorded a .311 batting average, drove in 73 runs, scored 51 runs and hit 21 doubles and 17 home runs. In 2010, Petersen was named to the All-Pacific Coast Softball Coast Coastal Division first team and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region second team.
"Her knowledge of the CSUB Softball program is important to show us where we have been and now she wants to see the program excel with its ability to compete now that it is eligible for the postseason," Buck said.
