''MODESTO BEE-----3-28-08---- BY KELLY JONES''

SCHEUBER A STAR -- Turlock High's Aja Scheuber stayed hot through last weekend's Judy Garmin Classic in Fullerton, where the Fresno State senior led the Bulldogs on an undefeated 5-0 championship run.
Fresno, ranked 13th, knocked off No. 6 Michigan 6-5 and host Fullerton 15-4. Scheuber went 4 for 5 against Fullerton with two RBIs and was 3 for 3 with three RBIs in a 9-1 victory over Illinois.
Scheuber, batting cleanup, is third on the team with a .383 average. She is second in doubles (seven) and RBIs (29). Fresno State (30-5) opens Western Athletic Conference play today at Utah State.
ENJOY----- FROM GRANDMA FRAN.

Aja Sighting!

Guess who's waiting on deck in a game against Utah last night in Fullerton?

Fresno State won twice on Thursday beating Michigan earlier in the day and Utah in the nightcap 9-6. The 'Dogs play Friday and Saturday before heading home. If all goes well Fresno could finish the weekend at 30-5 for the season and a potential top 10 ranking!

news from Paris

Hi, family
Just wanted to let you all know that I made it to Paris, found my friends without any problems, and am having a great time.  Have seen and climbed the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower (not all the way, but my friends did).  Am off to the Louvre and a few other museums (Rodin & Orsay - which has lots of impressionist work) today.  So much to see & do, so little time.

Ben,
I hope you had a great 15th birthday!

Always,
Sandi

Scheuber ancestors

Some ancestors to add to your Das Buch der Scheuber.  Found this from a site that Liz sent me.
Scheuber - Konrad and Margaret Rot
Christina daughter of Konrad and Margaretha Rot
Dorothea daughter of Konrad and Margaretha Rot
Johann father of Konrad
Konrad ca 1481-1559 son of Johann and Dorothea von Flue
Maria Klara wife of Leonhard Christen

Found on this website http://www.geneanet.org/

Notice that on our family tree chart pg 17 Dorothea von Flue is married to Hensli Scheuber.
Here he is listed as Johann.  Only because husband John was called Hensli as a child, I know that it stands for John or Johann.  Notice that we do not have Margaret Rot listed on our tree.   Dorothea Scheuber would be a sister to Christine.    Auntie Marge

BEN'S BIRTHDAY

Ben celebrated his 15th birthday at Grandma and Grandpa's having his favorite barbeque -steak.  Uncle Mike, cousins, Matt,( and Matt's friend Sarah) Riley and Taylor were there.  We all love Ben!   Grandma

Bloomers

A few photos of  some bloomin' trees, compliments of Uncle Leo!

Not to worry

Auntie Marge and Liz too!

Quite the contrary, Liz's note was the inspiration for KEEPING the Blog title in tact. The security concerns came up once before and when a second one emerged, I sent out the post you all saw.

We thought about changing the name to be more private but felt that it would limit other relatives from finding us much like Liz did. So the reality is Liz' timing was great, otherwise we might now have "Smith International News."

Geoff

Happy Birthday

BEN!

Fwd: Family History

Geoff, I was afraid that Liz might take this situation personally.   I like how you have resolved the situation and have kept the Scheuber name.   Auntie Marge

Marge –

Thank you for your email last Thursday in the wee hours of the night and sharing about your family.  I still shake my head and smile at the odds of finding this connection with the Scheuber family.

I do have to ask you a sensitive question, though.  Was my blog posting on "Scheuber International News" the catalyst for the recent discussions you are all having about privacy and confidentiality?  I hope my contact didn't cause any tensions in this regard.  And if so, I sincerely apologize.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Liz

Security Update

To address the security concerns, I did some testing with our blog. You may have seen the name change on the headline. Once the specific posts were deleted, identities were safe.

It seems the best solution is this. We'll go back to our original name...which will still keep us VERY PUBLIC.

However, I advise NOT to post specific information like addresses, phone numbers, shoe sizes, bank accounts, etc. Last names are acceptable. If we eliminate last names altogether, we'll limit the ability to reach out to other relatives.  NOTE however, that certain cousins with the first initial T and the first initial D have requested further privacy.  Refer to said cousins with just first names. (By the way, I located the specific references to both and have deleted, after a few days, a search for those specific names did not return any reference to our site, identities safe.)

In all seriousness, sometimes we innocently post info about others; newspaper articles, etc. that include info about one of us that that person may not want posted. IF you find data about YOU that shows up when doing a search for yourself and you don't want it public, send me a quick note with the specific date of the post, and I will gladly delete it.

Thanks for all the personal email suggesting solutions for this. My favorites shall and will remain secure and anonymous. You know who you are!

DANISH NEWS ON THE SWISS SITE

OUT OF SEASON NEWS!

Just thought the elder Scheubers might be interested in seeing Virginia Rehder as she now looks at age 93.  Since this picture she is now living in a rest home on Scenic.  She is now 94 years old.  Virginia Rehder lived across the street from Scheuber ranch.  Johnny use to go over there to  play with her step son David and use their encyclopedias.  Virginia to this day remembers that and was so impressed since she said David never used them.  David never became a professor!!  My sister and I take pointsettias (from Duarte nursery naturally) every Christmas to our old  Danish members who can't make it to the meetings.

(as written by our news reporter in the Danish newsletter at http://www.danishsociety.com/
The second stop Was Virginia Rehder:
"She lives with her daughter. We had a nice visit. She showed us pictures of all her grandchildren which line her bedroom walls. She has a little trouble getting around without her walker, but seems to be doing well otherwise. Says she is 93 years young."

John dancing with granddaughters Haley(tall one) Sydney to left of Haley and other little Danish children at the Christmas party.
This is Marge Scheuber, Elouise Degrendele and Susan Mefford giving to Howard Training Center for disabled people.( For elder Scheubers info.  Susan is Gunver's daughter, (Gunver lived across the street  with the Rehders when she first came to Modesto from Denmark)  She says she got to know Johnny well for he came over to see David.  Little did she know that some day she would become an aunt-in-law to Johnny.

Sponsoring local organizations and bring point setters to our members who cannot get out anymore was also done before our Christmas party. It has been a busy time for Modesto.
NOTE:   This was written by our news reporter(born in Denmark & here about 10 years) who doesn't know how to spell pointsettias.  Sounds like we are delivering dogs.
