Great Job with Scheuber News

Greetings to everyone -

I have to say that the September edition of the Scheuber News has been the most interesting of any to date!   We've had the informative messages, the beautiful photos, the "controversial goings-on", the "remember when" renditions of Uncle Bill that make the tears roll down our cheeks with laughter and most importantly, the fact that everyone is just ONE BIG SCHEUBER FAMILY! ! !   It is the GREATEST ! ! ! !

I was delighted to learn that Lori won the prize for "Blogg Ratings Month".  Wow, a free years subscription to the Scheuber News - way to go Lori! ! !  She has a way with naming things. She also named a "very famous building" in the city of Modesto -  THE MODESTO CENTRE PLAZA !   How's that for having famous people in our family!

Bryan - those pictures that Tammy sent in were pretty cute.  You know when you see all of the good looking offspring you have to hand it to Grandma and Grandpa who started all of the Troops! ! !

Happy to hear that Taylor Michelle is GROWING and doing well.  Our prayers are with her for her continued progress.

Uncle Bill -  I bet that if you ask Santa for a new dictionary, he would leave one in your stocking.  You know what, Uncle Ernie has the old family dictionary - circa 1925 - you know it's old when all of the current presidents are listed and the last one is Calvin Coolidge!   Ernie said that you wouldn't make much use out of it as it doesn't have any of the current words in it that you're using!

It even has a dictionary of Everyday Errors - for example:

1.  The word FACE - "How could you have the face to do it?" is an expression gone out of style.
2.  SCARED - Should not be mispronounced skaert.
3.  YACHT - Pronounced yot, not yat.
4.  GUMS - Pronounced gumz.  Those unfortunate enough to have acquired the pronunciation goomz should ask to be delivered from their affliction.
5.  ANY PLACE - "Are you going any place?" should be "Are you going anywhere?"

The Dictionary has several "bits of info" - one being, Soldiers pay in 1923 ranged from $21.00 to $126.00 per month, depending upon his rank.
Within the Dictionary It has the Dictionary of Aviation
The Dictionary of Pole
Dictionary of Basketball Terms,
Dictionary of Baseball
Dictionary of Boxing Terms
Dictionary of Football
Dictionary of Golf (hey Leo and John, this might be worth checking out)
Dictionary of Lacrosse
Dictionary of Lawn Tennis
Dictionary of Yachting
Dictionary of Americanisms
Dictionary of the Automobile
Dictionary of Aviation
Dictionary of Commerce and Law
Dictionary of Radio Words and Terms
Dictionary of Music
And the list goes on! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

I think that they covered it all!

It's pretty fun checking out all of this OLD STUFF.  But, then again, us OLD FOLKS find humor in OLD THINGS ! ! !

PS - Uncle Bill - Uncle Ernie wants to remind you that he too was a whorer in the bean fields, but the first job he had was suckering grapes for Joe Anderson down on Taylor and Carpenter Rds. for  about a $1.00 an hour!  Hum, by the time they took out SDI. Workmans Comp, Income Tax and Social Security, there wasn't much left!
We never complained as we only needed to have $.10 left for the movies - that is if we didn't have flat bicycle tires (out transportation to town).  One Sunday we wanted to go to the movies and we kept waking up dad during his Sunday nap.  He didn't want us to go, but we kept waking him up.  Finally said "Gange de docht!" (Go ahead and go! !)  Our next questions was "Dad, do you have any money??"  I guess there were too many deductions from our paychecks! ! ! !

Hey, Uncle Bill, what about Okie Whitmier and the guy that played the broom for his guitar??  How old was he anyway, and what grade was he in??

Well enough for tonight -
Signing off,
Uncle Ernie and Auntie Mary Jane
