102 Degrees of Blue Lightning

Ok...final chapter. Thanks for the forum to boast about Lauren's soccer season.

Well, well, well. Funny thing happened on the way to Redondo Beach last night for Lauren's Championship game...15 minutes before Venus and I would arrive, a message that "Lauren has a fever, and won't be playing tonight." This, for a non-sports-aholic is a difficult concept to grasp. Ya just can't explain the severity of circumstance NOT to be able to play in the biggest game of the year. I felft soo bad for her.

We arrived at the field, Lauren wrapped in a blanket dressed in her jersey, but no cleats, no shin guards, no shorts, just cozy sweats...she was definetly out. A solumn group of girls went through their warmups, but a quiet buzz circulated as the word passed that the Blue Lightning would be short handed for the final game.

Down 2-0 through the first half...Lauren was sent home out of the cold.

Amazing isn't it, how given opportunity and circumstance, people excell? It was the quiet hard-working forward of the Blue Lightning that hadn't scored a goal all year that put up the first goal for the Lightning, late in the third. From there it was all Tatianna (she gets hungry like that)....3 more to put it away. Quite exciting. We phoned Lauren as the final seconds ticked away...she heard the celebration, I'm so happy for them all!

Geoff

PS Lauren feels better today, fever's goin' down.

Hope to see you in a couple of weeks!
