Etc.

Congratulations to Lauren and her team for winning the championship!!.  So sorry that she was ill, but knowing that she was part of the reason they made it to the championship surely should make her mighty proud.

So glad to hear that Fran and Bill were able to get to Las Vegas and spend time with their grandkids.  I'm sure it was a wonderful time for all of them.  From what we hear  and the pictures we've seen they are such beautiful and precious little ones.  Last year John and I were at that Rodeo in Vegas but the honor went to some of his cowboy type salesmen   In fact one of them got married there in the excitement of it all at one of these quick marriage parlors.  After 20 years with the same lady, he finally made it legal.  Am sure  he and the VSI crew from Oregon and Fresno had a few drinks before all this took place. The Rodeo there is an exciting place as I remember well.  I hope John will see that we make it there again someday.

We are trying to get ready for the big Christmas Eve event.  With all the Christmas activities, it has been a challenge.  While in Columbia attending a Christmas play with our lodge I heard a voice over the crowd yelling."Auntie Marge."   It was Mike Chiavettia.  Making my way toward him, he proceeds to tell me, " I hugged your sister thinking it was you."  She was standing next to John, but definitely looks different than me.  Size and looks!!  Must be his glass eye!    He and Jana were there with some high school students.  We had Suzy Medford (100% Dane )with us on our trip.  She worked with Jana at the Big Yellow House.    Later at dinner I heard some interesting stories of their days at the Big Yellow House.

A few weeks ago we attended the most wonderful Christmas program we have ever seen.
Benjamin's cousin was in the cast of 200 members performing singing, dancing and acting.
It is held each year at the Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento a few blocks from the state Capitol.  It is such a celebration with cast members in colorful costumes parading up and down the aisles while other events are taking place on stage.  It is hard to keep up with all that is taking place.  John said that he shed a few tears at this spectacular event.  We came away with the spirit of Christmas in our hearts.  We heard that the producer has been selling his Christmas shows all over the nation.

Last week we took Ben out to pick a child"s name on the Soroptimist Christmas tree.  He definitely wanted a boy this year since we has a girl last year.  Ben enjoyed being in on the purchasing of clothes and toys for this 6 yr old child.  Ben suggested that we get him these soccer pajamas since his name sounded Mexican.  As Ben said, Mexican kids love soccer.  Seems like Swiss kids love soccer too.

Ben's school winter concert was Monday night.  He is one of 5 boys in the choir.  Lucky guy!   Haley and Sydney's dance program is tomorrow night so we will be heading for Rocklin.  Sunday we have our lodge Christmas dinner at Legends where the children will meet Santa.  Benjamin will be with us.  John says, " When are we going to have time to be home?"  Well, he and Ted finished our garage floors with epoxy last Fri and Saturday.  We are planning on heating the garage and fixing up a play area for the kids for Christmas Eve.
Heidi, Sandi, Sarah and all the kids were here on Saturday making cookies.  The babies were lined up on the floor  for pictures and to make comparisons.  Callie is longer and Taylor has fatter cheeks.

Well, the cookie dough is waiting to be rolled and baked and off to  93 yr old Aunt Vivian's house.  She returned my cookie plate a few weeks ago while I was visiting and requested that I fill it up again.

Looking forward to seeing many of you on Christmas Eve.  So far only the LAS Scheuber family, Ashlee's parents, Mike Chiavettia family, and John Duarte family  have RSVP'd.  Hope everyone received their invitation.  I know Maryjane and Ernie's was practically destroyed in the mail process.   See you soon.
