Sports Update
Hi all!
Soccer (minor league)
Lauren's new team "The Beach Girls" started their Spring Select season blasting the local Redondo Beach all-stars 5-0. Recall that we finished the regular season playoffs on a Saturday then didn't miss a beat and started up on Monday with a whole new team. This is a shorter interim season for select players, so uh maybe there's a short break in sight. Lauren is playing solid as always, a small hiccup with Osgood/Schlatters in her left knee, but it hasn't slowed her down. She just loves to play this game.
Softball (major league)
Aja Scheuber strikes again. Merced College is currently ranked #14 in the State and yesterday in Visalia they beat Shasta and Cypress (both rated higher in the state rankings). In the first game (6-0), the score was 0-0 in the 8th inning when Aja hit a three run home run to break it open!
The second game wasn't close. It was called after 5 innings because of the "8 run" rule. Aja pitched in that game without giving up a run. She also went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk, Merced winning 10-2.
Get this...Aja on the day goes 3/7, has 6 rbi's, an her batting average actually dropped from .529 to .519. Amazing!
Just had to share that!
Have a great Easter Weekend,
Geoff
NOTE: See Aja live! Merced plays at MJC next Thursday at 1pm.
