Turlock High School graduate Aja Scheuber capped an extraordinary college career Friday after she and two other Fresno State softball players finished off their seasons by competing with the ASA/College All-stars against the USA Olympic Softball team.

After the game, Scheuber even got to sit down and have dinner with superstar pitcher Jennie Finch, one of the best hurlers on the face of this earth.

Scheuber, along with Fresno State teammates Jenna Cervantez and Halley Gillelend, were on the College-ASA All-star team that bumped heads with the USA team at the Salinas Sports Complex in the Bay Area.

They lost to 10-0, but that wasn't the point.

"They were thrilled to get beat by that score," said Bill Scheuber, Aja's father. "USA was beating teams 13-0 and 22-0. They knew they were going to get killed, but they still got two hits off Monica Abbott."

Abbott, who just graduated from Tennessee, is one of Team USA's top three pitchers. She gave up two hits, one walk and sent 16 batters back to the dugout.

Scheuber struck out twice and grounded out on her third appearance at the plate.

"She was just happy to put the ball in play," said Bill. "It was a great experience and she thoroughly enjoyed it. They were playing against the best team on the planet."

Scheuber finished an outstanding career Fresno State where she hit .342 as a senior. She had nine doubles, five home runs, 48 RBI and 42 walks. The 42 walks placed her second in Bulldog school history.

Scheuber was also selected to the Fresno West Coast Regional All-Tournament team, and to the NCAA West All-Regional Team. She was also selected to the All-Academic All-America first team.

Fresno State finished with a 54-13 overall record and were ranked 12th in the nation before hosting the regional tournament. The Bulldogs lost 7-6 against California, Berkeley in extra innings in the Fresno West Coast Regional Tournament.

The game was part of the Beijing China '08 Tour that the USA team is on to promote fastpitch softball all around the country in their preparation for summer's Olympic Games. Team USA is the defending Olympic gold medalist.
