Congrats to Our Junior Miss!
Hello Everyone,
Anne is back at home after spending an amazing 12 days with the California Junior Miss program. The experience was challenging, inspiring, motivational and all-around wonderful as she met and worked well with 35 other young women, honed her interview skills, and spoke and performed before a crowd of hundreds! The young women she met were the most wonderfully talented, intelligent and nice girls she could ever hope to meet in one place. All in all, it was a tremendous, once-in-a-lifetime experience she will remember her entire life.
In addition to the positive experience, Anne was also chosen by her peers to receive a “Spirit Award”, which is a special award for the girls that most exemplify the Junior Miss philosophy of “Be Your Best Self”. And finally, she was named to the “Top Five”, specifically the Fourth Alternate to the California Junior Miss. Needless to say, we are very proud of our daughter and the beautiful person she is, on the inside as well as the outside!
Thanks again for all of your good thoughts, well wishes and prayers in support of Anne and our family!
Lots of love,
Lori

Many thanks to Leo and Marge for a delightful evening in their back yard last Sunday. Great food: brats, Schiblig, (provided by the hosts) alpler magrone ( by the master alpler chef) salads by the sister-in-laws and Swiss desserts by Anita and the guests Liz and her mom Elsa Christen. Great conversation: learning about Alfred's connection to Grandpa Scheuber and the many stories he had to tell about being around Grandpa. He grew up knowing the family in Switzerland and seeing Grandpa at many Swiss activities here in America. One special comment was that Grandpa told him " I hope you get to meet my boys someday." He said the last time he saw him was in the 1980's. So this meeting has taken a long time. Grandpa must have been looking down on us and smiling on Sunday evening. Liz says that the relationship genealogy-wise is: her dad is 10th cousin, 2 times removed and she is 11th cousin, 1 time removed. The "10th" means that you share a grandparent 10 generations back. If you look on your Das Scheuber book on page 17 you will see a Christine Scheuber married a Melch Christen. If I have this right our Scheuber clan shares the grandparent Melch Christen. Then you see it goes from Christen to Barmetter and Barmettler back to Scheuber again. Interesting!!! Thanks to Geoff for making the Scheuber site so that Liz could find us. Thanks to Liz for making the connection and thanks to Liz and her husband Rod for bringing her parents to meet all of us. marge |

Artist Found
Here's more on the post below regarding the mystery artist. After seeing DebrSno's note I sent her the note below. She also shared her story on how she got the sketches, and said it was o.k. to put here...so here it is!
Enjoy,
G.

Oh my gush -- Thank-you! It's hard to believe I've possibly found him. I'm new at this scan and e-mail so bear with me. Hopefully you'll be able to receive the scan to make sure these are your Uncle Bill's.
I was on vacation in Vegas with friends. Went to MGM to explore the sights, shop the mall area, stopped for drinks, guess it was "Bill"
we sit next to, we kinda greeted each other, he was leaving and kinda slid napkins toward me, I remember saying thanking you before realizing the drawing, bartender asked if I was going to keep them and I said sure...was more into simple country life then the city...Mystery man was gone...looked for him to really say "Thank-You" and that I appreciate his drawing...never found him, but haven't forgotten him...Thanks and God bless...Deb
