Marcelo Cueto Scheuber

Just happened to check in the index of our Das Buch der Scheuber and found Marcelo's name.  He is listed in the front pages on page 22, under the title Bruder Kaspars Sohn Flieht nach Argentinien.  Of course these pages are in German.  We need a translater.   ole

Gold Rush Gold Dust

Last Thursday Grandpa and I went to Rocklin to see Haley star in the play Gold Rush Gold Dust.  She was Luzena Wilson, a pioneer girl who relates the story of the Rush for Gold in California in 1849.  We were amazed that she could memorize all the lines for her role as a main character. Mom and Dad (Heidi and Ted) took part in painting scenery. All the children were in appropriate clothing for the time period.  Songs performed by the children were lively and added to the historical facts.  It was a lovely evening.

Johansen High School Spring Concert

Here is our grandson Ben as he readies to play the piano at Johansen High School Spring Concert last Wednesday evening. He and a clarinet player perfomed a duet during the song "The Star of Dreams"

Aja Scheuber
THS grad competes against Team USA

BY JOHN-JOEL GRIFFITHS
Staff Reporter

Turlock High School graduate Aja Scheuber capped an extraordinary college career Friday after she and two other Fresno State softball players finished off their seasons by competing with the ASA/College All-stars against the USA Olympic Softball team.

After the game, Scheuber even got to sit down and have dinner with superstar pitcher Jennie Finch, one of the best hurlers on the face of this earth.

Scheuber, along with Fresno State teammates Jenna Cervantez and Halley Gillelend, were on the College-ASA All-star team that bumped heads with the USA team at the Salinas Sports Complex in the Bay Area.

They lost to 10-0, but that wasn't the point.

"They were thrilled to get beat by that score," said Bill Scheuber, Aja's father. "USA was beating teams 13-0 and 22-0. They knew they were going to get killed, but they still got two hits off Monica Abbott."

Abbott, who just graduated from Tennessee, is one of Team USA's top three pitchers. She gave up two hits, one walk and sent 16 batters back to the dugout.

Scheuber struck out twice and grounded out on her third appearance at the plate.

"She was just happy to put the ball in play," said Bill. "It was a great experience and she thoroughly enjoyed it. They were playing against the best team on the planet."

Scheuber finished an outstanding career Fresno State where she hit .342 as a senior. She had nine doubles, five home runs, 48 RBI and 42 walks. The 42 walks placed her second in Bulldog school history.

Scheuber was also selected to the Fresno West Coast Regional All-Tournament team, and to the NCAA West All-Regional Team. She was also selected to the All-Academic All-America first team.

Fresno State finished with a 54-13 overall record and were ranked 12th in the nation before hosting the regional tournament. The Bulldogs lost 7-6 against California, Berkeley in extra innings in the Fresno West Coast Regional Tournament.

The game was part of the Beijing China '08 Tour that the USA team is on to promote fastpitch softball all around the country in their preparation for summer's Olympic Games. Team USA is the defending Olympic gold medalist.

THAT'S OUR GIRL ( CONGRATULATIONS AJA ) MAY THE NEXT PAGE IN YOUR LIFE, BRING YOU MANY NEW CHALLENGES,FULL OF EXCITEMENT AND JOY.

Memorial Day

Remembering those who fought for freedom and all those who served our nation in the military.   John and I attended the Memorial Day Service today at Lakewood Cemetery in Hughson, CA.   It was quite impressive!  I had 4 uncles who fought in World War II. (England, Hawaiin Islands, Phillipines, and other Pacific Islands) My one remaining uncle (85 years) only now is he able to talk about his battles on Iwo Jima, Guadalcana, Bogainville and others. Ben and I are in the process of videotaping his life. We have 2 hours done and are only up to his return home from the marines. God Bless Uncle Alvin.

Here's what I found:

Sepp Barmettler: If artists like cheese maker

The first to hear Sepp (Joseph) Barmettler name, tasting the cheese he produced, is in New York by Terrance Brennan of Picholine restaurant operator. I know that Sepp Barmettler cheese factory, in central Switzerland is called Shi Tansi (Stans) of the town, then in the last journey of Switzerland, when I came to this region, immediately to the people of this Datan Sepp Barmettler, Moreover, the efforts of Datan soon I will have a quid pro quo - Lustenberger of Richard Gander, in Zug (Zug) cheese exporters, is the first I asked Datan the target, he immediately went to visit my guidelines Sepp Barmettler in the correct direction.
One and a half hours later, place us in Nigeria are in the Wadeng Province (Nidwalden) of the town of Shi Tansi a fine compact villages, and Sepp Barmettler cheese factory in the eyes! As we approached note to meet with President Sepp Barmettler, was to receive products in the room, this place is that Sepp Barmettler casting, cutting his production of the most delicious cheese in the most exquisite "Stanser Fladae" cheese site.
"Stanser Fladae" is a weighing about 10 ounces, hard skin, but the cheese itself is extremely soft and the top cheese, Sepp Barmettler told us to enjoy "Stanser Fladae" This cheese the best way: in the two hours before consumption, the first The integrity of the (not all) at room temperature, two hours after the session prepared to make cuts under the enjoyment of that wonderful taste - and that the taste is like having a temperature and room temperature cheese dishes.
He wants us to be on the few blocks to the town outside the agricultural market, we stand Sepp Barmettler cheese stalls, while praise Mengchi side of the cheese, of course, at the same time while waiting for him to join us.

Sepp Barmettler
Sepp Barmettler production of cheese from a production of the family, since the 10-year-old, he had to help his family engaged in the production of cheese production, now he can be said to be the cheese production in the industrial sector, a well-trained experts and the absolute masters. Over the past 15 years, he focused on producing their own brands of cheese, but now he has an annual manufacturing sales between 30 am to 40 tons of cheese, with four employees in the production line, four employees in the business sector to assist him in conducting the cause of cheese .
"Stanser Fladae" Sepp Barmettler certainly not the only manufacturing cheese, in fact, he's cheese production is very diverse, soft, hard, central Switzerland's traditional cheese and goat cheese have, he even organic production Milk, butter and goat milk and yogurt produced by the form.
If you are a people who love cheese, please remember to Shi Tansi town discharged into your next travel trip in Switzerland!

AI: Before the Final Vote

Auntie Fran,
Since you and Uncle Bill, and Ashlee & Mike are probably the only ones who care...I addressed this to you. I just got home from Dallas and we watched the AI episode from last night...and if I were voting...David Cook would be my choice hands down. He continually does something different every single time...it was great! BUT...safe choice will win this...the new American Idol: David Archuleta. Bigger career? Cook figured it out, he was competing for something way beyond American Idol.

Ok...I'm done.
Geoff

AMERICAN IDOL !!!!

HI SCHEUBER ---- A.I. FANS------- ON MY SIDE OF THE LIVING ROOM I SAID DAVID COOK WILL WIN      .BUT ON THE OTHER SIDE --- SAME ROOM I HEAR DAVID ARCHULETA WILL WIN.    ?????  " AS RANDY WOULD SAY CHECK IT OUT. "
  AUNTIE FRAN.
PS----- HAPPY BIRTHDAY------ ASHLEE AND MIKE J.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICHAEL J

Happy Birthday Michael J.  Love, Mom

Happy Birthday to Ashlee too!  Didn't know you and Mike J. shared a birthday.

Marcelo

Hello to Marcelo!!!

Was waiting for some of the blood family to post an answer to your questions.  I am just married to one of them.  I am interested in genealogy so am replying to what I know from the family. My husband remembers his dad saying that some Scheubers had moved to Argentina.  His dad Adolph/Bill Scheuber was born in 1900 to Jacob Scheuber(1864-1949) and Christine von Holzen(1865-1944) Jacob Scheuber was the son of Josef and Maria Scheuber.  I am thinking that maybe you are from that branch of the family tree.  Adolph/Bill Scheuber came to America when he was 20 years old.  Would like to know for sure.

Many of us have been to Switzerland to visit the homeland and meet relatives there:  Nidwalden, Stans and the Rotzberg. Some have been several times.  We have had cousins from Switzerland go to college here in the states and spend time with us. Sometimes Kuno will post on this site.  Hello there Kuno from Switzerland if you are reading this!!!

Yes, we do know about Bruder Konrad.  Recently I ordered and received a book called Married Saints and Blesseds Through the Centuries. It has 9 pages on the life of Nicholas Von Flue.  I have also found several articles about him on the internet.  Geoff who manages this blog site visited this  hermit cell  a few years ago  & saw where Bruder Klaus lived out the remainder of his life in Ranft not far from his home.

Waiting to hear more from you.   Marge (married to John)

Happy Birthday!

Ashlee!!

American

I missed the show last night, but heard that Archuleta is the fav as well. Ve put it best, "I'd pay to see Cook, Archuleta not so much, though he'll be a big draw wearing the Mickey ears".

DVR of last night's AI and the finals tonight! (After the Laker game is well in hand of course! I do have priorities.)

Geoff

We voted......

for Cook......three times.  Somehow, we think David A is going to win!!

Grandpa Adolph

Back on my genealogy searches tonight.  Found Grandpa Adolph on the California Registration of 1926 living at 310 Virginia Ave as a registered republican.
Notice that later he switched over to that other animal party.   Now maybe Pius remembers this, but John sure didn't.   olemarge

50 year celebration of Our Lady of Fatima School

To all those Fatima Scheuber grads:
Tom, Dave,Jana, Stephanie, Bill, Bryan, Sharon,Sandi,Mike, Sandi and Heidi

Tonight was the celebration of 50 years of Fatima School held at the new gymnasium.  What a beautiful gym with spacious stage etc. etc!!!  Karen Ristau, the guest speaker came from Washington D. C. where she is now the National Director of Catholic Education.  She told many funny stories about Monsignor. The Bishop also spoke.  Father Armistad(now Monsignor Armistad)also spoke about his first days of being a priest under Monsignor's rule. Father Mike Kelly was also there.  He looks great!   Linda Partlow, now principal greeted us at the door and gave us a big hug. Other guests that we visited with were: The Wilburns, Loudermilks, Varnis,McCafferys, Ayres, Louise Pavlosky, Relva's, Katherine Borba, Altadonna Countryman and more.  They were planning on showing a power point presentation showing pictures of school children and Monsignor, but the computer was not cooperating.

Below is a picture of Shelly & Bryan's 1st grade picture.  Bryan is the handsome little boy in the front row on the left.  Shelly is on the right 2nd from the end. Guess Shelly didn't like those kids above her.  Not really!!  I am pretty sure that is Ron Costa behind her.  He is now a principal at some school in Riverbank.  Who would have thought that of him?
Oh such memories!!    olemarge

Cancer Facts

Geoff, Thanks for the Relay informational blog.    Way to go!!  You always do exceptionally  well with your fund raising!!!
We heard more sad cancer news.  Two of our high school friends now have prostate cancer.
One is very serious with the cancer spreading to bones and lymph nodes.  We will be keeping them in our prayers and will be walking for them at the relay this year along with the others that we continue to walk for each year. Looking at this cancer frequency chart is rather scary, especially for women.   The JRS family.

3 in Fresno softball contest hail from Stanislaus District / By KELLY JONES

There was a softball reunion of sorts for three Stanislaus District products in Fresno on Wednesday.
Davis High's Lauren Clark and Ceres' Heidi Eisenbeis play for St. Mary's College, which split a doubleheader with No. 9 Fresno State and Bulldogs designated hitter Aja Scheuber of Turlock. The trio played against each other in high school and travel ball.
Clark singled in the opener, a 5-0 Fresno State victory in which Scheuber delivered an RBI single. Scheuber went 2 for 4 and scored a run in the second game, but St. Mary's prevailed 4-3, the first time a Gaels team has defeated a top 10-ranked opponent.
Clark was hit by a pitch in the third inning of the second game and was eventually stranded at third base. Eisenbeis did not play.
Clark is hitting .281 and leads the Gaels with 11 doubles. St. Mary's (25-23) plays host to Loyola Marymount in a doubleheader today that will decide the Pacific Coast Softball Championship, along with determining which team will earn the automatic spot into the NCAA Tournament.
Scheuber is hitting .346 and is second on the team with 37 RBIs. Fresno State (46-9) plays host to New Mexico State in its final Western Athletic Conference series this afternoon. The WAC tournament begins Wednesday in Hawaii.
BULLDOGS---- Have a safe trip to Hawaii and a great tournament, from GRANDMA FRAN.

''THE GREAT NEIL DIAMOND''

HI AMERICAN IDOL FANS, THIS JASON CASTRO----- JUST A PRETTY FACE , I WAS YELLING AT HIM, WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ''THE GREAT NEIL DIAMOND SONGS.''
HOW LUCKY DID WE GET?? ,HE WILL PERFORM AGAIN ON TUESDAY PM,VERY BAD NEWS. DAVID COOK IS THE WINNER---- TIME TO SAY SEE YOU ALL NEXT YEAR THANK YOU---- AND CLOSE THE DOOR AS YOU LEAVE !!!!!!
THIS OPINION FROM AUNTIE FRAN.

Relay for Life: Why should I?

Cousins, Aunts & Uncles, Friends,

Let me help clear any uncertainties about the time and money commitment associated with the Relay and share my experiences over the last 6 years of participation.

First of all, this is what the Relay is:

Secondly, why bother?

True the LAS Family will not be in attendance at the Relay this year due to Leo and Margaret's monumental 50th Wedding Anniversary June 21st, however the donations we raise and the support WILL be! I expect a Pizza run around 8:30...remember "what happens at Mtn Mike's stays at Mtn Mike's"...Matt can vouch for that.

Any questions, post 'em up!
Thanks for listening,
Geoff

PS Jason Castro should prepare more. Kinda important to know who Neil Diamond is if your gonna sing his songs. Also, the AJA interview was GREAT!
